New Lynn Wastewater System Upgrade

Work is underway on an extensive wastewater system upgrade project which will see New Lynn benefit from reduced wastewater overflows in the area.

Constructed in the 1950s, the current West and South Lynn wastewater systems service roughly 300 hectares of residential land. Due to the age of the system and the anticipated population growth expected in the area, the wastewater system requires the greater capacity provided by this project whilst enabling Watercare to meet its performance objectives and the added mitigation of business continuity risks.

It’s a busy time for New Lynn. This project was programmed to benefit from the co-operative working with the likes of Auckland Council and ONTRACK, who also have large scale projects underway. This approach minimises disruption to residents whilst providing improved transport infrastructure,  widened streets and a more pedestrian friendly urban environment.
