Where does my drinking water come from?
Auckland’s water supply is obtained from three different types of sources; dams, rivers and from under the ground. Learn more about Auckland’s water sources here.
What is in my drinking water?
Watercare treats water to ensure it is safe to drink. The Annual Water Quality Report offers in-depth information regarding the physical and chemical parameters of the drinking water produced at Auckland’s main water treatment plants. The report is available for download from our reports and publications page.
Where is my wastewater treated?
Your wastewater is transported through a 7,300 kilometre public wastewater network to one of 20 wastewater treatment plants. However, the majority of Auckland’s wastewater is treated at either the Mangere or Rosedale plants. Here the wastewater is treated to produce treated wastewater and biosolids to standards that protect public health, the local environment and our coasts and harbours. Watercare is continually seeking more environmentally friendly ways of doing this.
What is the average rainfall per year in the Auckland region?
