It can be very easy to go through a lot of water without realising it. The following reasons may contribute to receiving a higher water bill than expected:
If your previous bill was based on an estimated reading, it may have been too low. Your current bill may include additional costs from previous bills
Does your current bill cover a longer period of time than your previous bill/s?
Have more people moved into your property or have you had visitors staying?
Have you had any water-related problems such as a dripping tap or washing machine flood?
Has any building, renovation, or decorating taken place? This could result in more water usage than usual.
Have you used your washing machine or dishwasher more frequently recently?
Have you been using a hosepipe or sprinkler?
Have you regularly filled a paddling or swimming pool over the billing period?
Could you have an undetected water leak?
