The new non-domestic wastewater tariff
Watercare's new non-domestic tariff - which will begin to come into effect on 1 July 2014 - combines an annual fixed charge (per water meter) and a volumetric charge. The volumetric charge is based on a percentage of the volume of water that flows through your water meter. (Note: the standard calculation is 95 percent. Some customers' water use has been previously assessed at a different rate - that rate will continue to apply.)
The new tariff features four usage plans - the fixed and volumetric charges vary depending on how much water your business or organisation uses.

Under this tariff, you will be able to:
choose the plan which best suits your organisation
switch between plans annually if your wastewater discharge varies, and
select a different plan for each water meter (if you have more than one meter).
To allow time for customers to plan and prepare, the new tariff will be phased in over three years:
in the first year (1 July 2013-30 June 2014) there will be no change to the existing tariff structure
in years 2 and 3 (1 July 2014-30 June 2016) the new tariff will be phased in on a one-third basis per annum until fully implemented
in year 4 (1 July 2016) the new tariff will be fully implemented.

Trade waste bylaw review
Watercare and Auckland Council are currently reviewing Auckland's four trade waste bylaws. Watercare's proposal is to revoke Auckland’s four legacy trade waste bylaws, and replace them with a single, region-wide trade waste bylaw. A decision on the bylaw is due later this year.
Until a decision is made on trade waste regulation, trade waste customers will continue to pay appropriate charges under the relevant bylaw.
