If you are about to move home or have moved home recently, please let us know so that we can update our records and ensure that you are billed correctly. You’ll find our online forms easy to use – please select from one of the options below. If you need any assistance or further information, please contact us.

Change of ownership - moving in
When you move in to a new property, please contact Watercare to confirm that a meter reading has been arranged. This will ensure that you are not charged for water used by the previous residents. To ensure this reading is undertaken, please complete the change of ownership form at least 3 full working days prior to moving in.
Change of ownership - moving out
When you move out of a property a final meter reading needs to be arranged so that your account can be closed. To ensure this reading is undertaken, please complete the change of ownership form at least 3 full working days prior to moving out. The water meter will then be read on an agreed date. By notifying us at least 3 full working days before moving out, you can avoid being held responsible for water used by any new occupants - as failure to request a final reading when closing an account will leave you liable for the account until such time as the next meter reading is performed. Please refer to the Residential Water and Wastewater Charges Booklet for the cost of a final/special meter reading.
Change of lease
Please complete the change of lease form at least 3 full working days prior to the current lessee moving out so that we can arrange a meter reader to calculate the final account.
Payment responsibility
Please note that the responsibility for payment of water invoices bills remains with the existing owner until the account is closed. Please review Watercare’s customer contract, outlined in the Working with You booklet, for more information.
Landlords
If you have a tenant who is moving out, then it is a good idea to request a special meter reading. Meter readings at the beginning and end of each tenancy will ensure that the volume of water used by each tenant is determined accurately so that you are able to bill them correctly.
Tenants
Tenants do not need to contact us when they move in or out. The property owner or authorized agent is responsible for providing these details. However, you do need to confirm with your landlord or agent that the water meter will be read at the property that you’re vacating and the property you’re moving into. This will ensure you’re only charged for the water you use.
