Water experiments lesson

Class-based lesson for pupils in years new entrant to 8

Discover and investigate:

Your pupils will have the opportunity to observe the three states of water and discover and experiment with:

  • magnification
  • refraction
  • surface tension.

Frequently asked questions:

Will I need to provide anything for the lessons?

Please provide the following:

  • whiteboard and marker pens
  • 6 to 8 tables or desks
  • access to a water supply.
  •  

This lesson involves a lot of small items (all provided by Watercare) that need to be set up. If there is more than one class participating, our teacher would appreciate it if she could set up in one classroom or hall and the classes could visit the room.

How long will the lessons last?

They will take approximately 1.5 hours although they can be adjusted to suit the school timetable.

Do I need to teach the children anything before the lessons?

No.

Are there any posters or materials to support these lessons?

Yes, you will receive a set of posters for your class as well as background materials in electronic format.
