Watercare's Role

Watercare is responsible for collecting, treating and disposing of wastewater, including trade waste from industry.
It collects wastewater from four local operators (LNOs) in the Auckland region:

• Manukau City Council
• Waitakere City Council
• Metro Water Ltd (owned by Auckland City Council), and
• United Water (long-term franchisee for Papakura District Council)

The North Shore City Council operates its own wastewater collection system and treatment facility at Rosedale Road in Albany.
