Where Your Wastewater Goes

The LNOs together collect wastewater from about 800,000 people collectively and industrial customers equivalent to a further population of 370,000. Watercare takes wastewater from the LNOs at around 2200 transfer points. It then flows through an extensive bulk network of 293km of sewers and 51 pump stations to the new generation land-based treatment plant at Mangere, on the eastern side of the Manukau Harbour.

Watercare treats on average 290,000 cubic metres of wastewater each day.
