Meet the team

Behind the Central Interceptor project is a dedicated team made up of Watercare staff and contractor, Ghella Abergeldie Joint Venture. Together, the team is working towards the collective goals of delivering the project safely, sustainably and to the highest possible standard for the people of Auckland.

Building New Zealand's largest wastewater tunnel is a team effort, and we're excited that this project allows us to step outside our core team and educate the next generation of engineers. We're giving a handful of interns the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business, be involved in the Central Interceptor project and advance their skills in their chosen field.

So, what does working on the Central Interceptor look like? We'll regularly profile a team member and give you some insight into their daily job. First up is Bentonite plant foreman Denis Baumgart. Press play on the video to find out why Denis travelled halfway across the world to be part of this project.

Check back in soon for another meet the team profile video.

For now, here's some insight into what makes Denis's team members tick.
