Northcote wastewater pipeline upgrades

We are upgrading the Northcote wastewater network.

Start - finish: October 2017 – late 2018

Location: Cadness Street to Akoranga Drive and Lake Road

Status: Construction

What’s happening?

The wastewater pipeline between Akoranga Drive and Lake Road, Northcote is aging and needs to be replaced. The new pipeline will also allow for future population growth. Built mainly through private land, we will have two crews working simultaneously to reduce construction time.

Tonar Street partial road closure

From 11 June we will be closing a section of Tonar Street, between numbers 85 and 62, to install a section of the wastewater pipe across the road. To do so safely, the following traffic and pedestrian management will be in place:

  • Tonar Street will be closed between Cadness Street and Fraser Avenue during these works. Please follow the signposted detour routes.

  • Pedestrian access will remain open, however, pedestrians on the northern side of Tonar Street will be required to cross the road. Please follow the signs.

  • Parking restrictions will be implemented on Tonar Street approximately 5m either side of the works area.

Weather permitting, we expect the works to take 6 weeks.
