Pukekohe Wastewater Treatment Plant

Plant upgrade and improving the treated water discharged.

Start–finish: 2018–2022
Location: Parker Lane, Pukekohe
Status: Construction

What’s happening?

Resource consent was granted for upgrades to the Pukekohe Wastewater Treatment Plant in Oct 2017
Transmission network upgrades were recently completed reducing wet weather overflows and improving the capacity of the network.

We are now upgrading the Pukekohe Wastewater Treatment Plant to ensure we can continue to treat wastewater from a growing population.

The upgrades will also result in a significant improvement to the discharge water quality including Parker Lane stream and the Waikato River.

A community liaison group was established to discuss the operation of the plant and its upgrade with local residents and interested parties.

What are the benefits?

These essential upgrades will ensure that as Pukekohe and surrounding areas continue to grow we can provide and maintain high quality reliable wastewater services while also protecting the environment.

How will this work affect you?

  • Construction began in March 2018 and will continue through to 2022
  • Some increase in traffic movements can be expected
  • There will be some construction noise on the site of the treatment plant in Parker Lane but we will keep this within Auckland Council’s limits
  • Parker Lane will be a 50kmh zone
