Take a tour of two of our treatment plants

Ever wondered how your drinking water is treated, or what happens to your wastewater after you flush the loo or take a shower?

We are hosting public open days at our Māngere Wastewater Treatment Plant and Waikato Water Treatment Plant in November.

Tours will be held between 9am and 3pm, with a maximum group size of 10. A reasonable level of fitness is required, as the tour may involve stairs and some uneven surfaces.
 
 
Māngere Wastewater Treatment Plant and Puketutu Island rehabilitation
Dates: Friday 23 November and Saturday 24 November
Time: Tours between 9am and 3pm. Tours are expected to take 1 hour, 15 minutes.
Address: Mark Ford Drive, Māngere (turn right at the traffic lights to access the plant)
Age limit: Children must be aged 12 years and over. Adult to child ratio of 1:2 applies.

Waikato Water Treatment Plant
Date: Saturday 10 November
Time: Tours between 9am and 3pm
Address: Hayward Rd, Tuakau
Age limit: Children must be aged 5 years and over. Adult to child ratio of 1:2 applies.
 
Bookings are essential and are organised on a first come, first served basis.  Please email [email protected] indicating which plant you’d like to visit and your preference for a morning or afternoon tour. Alternatively call 09 539 8425.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your tour departs. Remember to wear closed, flat shoes (no high heels or jandals). Bring a raincoat/sun block.
