Visit one of our dams on World Water Day

12/03/2018

It’s World Water Day on 22 March and Watercare is celebrating by offering guided tours at the Lower Huia Dam.

Lower Huia Dam is the newest and biggest of our five western dams, which together supply about 20 per cent of Auckland’s water.

It has a spectacular spillway, a pump station on site as well as the Huia Village Water Treatment Plant, which serves the local community.

Our passionate staff will explain how they operate the dam, maintain safety and minimise any impact on the surrounding environment.

Walking tours will be held every half hour between 9.30am and 3pm and are expected to take about 45 minutes.

Bookings are essential. An adult to child ratio of 1:2 will apply.
