Watercare Charter

Watercare is under interim regulatory oversight by the Commerce Commission, as set out in the Watercare Charter. The Charter sets expectations in key areas, including requirements to report and publish information so the public can see how we’re tracking.

Economic regulation

Watercare is also subject to enduring economic regulation overseen by the Commerce Commission. The regime includes information disclosure requirements. From July 2028, it will also include a price-quality path, which will establish Watercare's allowable revenue and service quality standards.
