When are the works happening?
  • Site presence and early works (such as fencing, tree trimming and site set up) will begin during the week of 20 April 2026.
  • Contractor presence on site will begin from Wednesday 22 April 2026.
  • A temporary road closure at the beach end of Browns Bay Road will be in place from Tuesday 28 April 2026 (following the ANZAC Day public holiday).
  • The overall works are expected to continue through to approximately October 2026.

What work is being carried out?

The project includes:

  • upgrading the existing wastewater pump station, and
  • replacing a section of the wastewater rising main that connects the pump station to the wider network.

To allow this work to be completed safely while keeping wastewater services operating, a temporary above ground bypass pipe will be installed for part of the construction period.

What to expect

Watercare and our contractors will work to minimise disruption. However, people in the area may notice:

  • general construction noise during standard working hours (7am–6pm, Monday to Friday),
  • occasional Saturday work (7am–12pm), if required to manage delays caused by weather or unforeseen circumstances,
  • temporary traffic management near the beach end of Browns Bay Road, and
  • temporary changes to parking and public access near the beach during parts of the works.

Traffic and access

Traffic management and signage will be in place to guide vehicles and pedestrians safely around the work area. Resident access to properties will remain available throughout construction.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we carry out this essential infrastructure upgrade.
