Project overview
The original Nihotupu 1 watermain was laid around 1905 from cast-iron pipe. Water is pumped from the Titirangi Reservoirs to the Nihotupu Reservoir and supplies approximately 18,000 elevated customers in Laingholm and Titirangi.
Due to the age and condition of the existing Nihotupu 1 watermain it needs to be replaced.
The overall construction timeframe for these works are from late May until late 2025. The majority of these works are in the Titirangi area.
Please refer to the overall site map to show the extent of the entire project.

First section of works on Atkinson Road and Kaurilands Road Titirangi
Our contractor for the project March Cato will start works from late-May 2025 until October 2025.
From late May our crew will start construction of the Bulk Supply Point (BSP). We will only work on the BSP to begin with (area on the map below shown in orange).
Please refer to the map below for the work area.

Watermain construction on Kaurilands Road
From late June 2025, our contractor March Cato began construction of the watermain along Kaurilands Road.
It is estimated that this section of watermain on Kaurilands Road (from the Kaurilands/Atkinson intersection to the Kaurilands/Withers Road) will take to approximately mid-October 2025.
Section of works on Daffodil Street and Konini Road, Titirangi
From mid-July 2025, our contractor March Cato began construction of the watermain on Daffodil Street and Konini Road. It is estimated that these sections of works will be completed by late September 2025.
For our works on Daffodil Street, we will start laying the watermain on the section furthest away from the Atkinson Road/Daffodil Street intersection.
For the Konini Road works, we will start laying the watermain just before the Onedin Place/Konini Road intersection and work our way up to the Konini Road/Kaurilands Road intersection.

Please follow the direction of site personnel and all site signage to keep everyone safe. - Some street parking will need to be temporarily removed near the work site to allow traffic management to be setup as part of the approved traffic management plan.
