The latest
Our contractor Fulton Hogan recently completed the early works package which included O’Donnell Avenue, Parkinson Avenue, Farrelly Avenue and Denize Road. Construction of a new bulk supply point chamber in the road near 2 La Veta Avenue and a pipeline connecting to an existing bulk supply chamber on Richardson Road was completed in early 2024.
Project overview
We are undertaking upgrades to the water network to cater for current and future development and population growth in the area. The project involves the construction of approximately 4,200 metres of new watermain with sections ranging from 200mm to 610mm in diameter, A new bulk supply point will also be constructed as part of the project. These works are supporting Kāinga Ora housing development in the area to ensure there is sufficient water supply for the growing population.
Current works
The map below shows each project area and the different stages of work.

Update on our section of works on Richardson Road, Mount Albert
Our crew started works in mid-February 2025 to construct a 610mm-diameter pipe adjacent to Richardson Road bridge which crosses over Oakley Creek.
On Tuesday 17 June 2025, we moved our traffic management layout further down Richardson Road (past the Richardson/Hendon Avenue intersection) up towards the Richardson Road/Stoddard Road intersection.
To get this work done as quickly as possible, access onto Hendon Avenue from Richardson Road will be closed.
Residents will be detoured up Richardson Road and onto Stewart Road to access Hendon Avenue. This section of works (shown on the map below) is expected to take approximately five weeks to complete.
Please refer to the map below showing the works area and the extent of our closure.

La Veta Avenue connecting into the Mt Albert Ōwairaka Reservoir
Work to lay the watermain on the top section of La Veta Avenue and connect into the reservoir located on Mt Albert/Ōwairaka have now been completed. From July 2025 we will start replanting the area we cleared for our works with native vegetation. Replacement trees to be planted include Karamu, Houpara, Manuka, Mapou, Karo, Mahoe and Kowhai.
Please note we will need to return in May 2026 to complete our final connections in this area.
Upcoming section of works on La Veta Avenue, Mt Albert
From 12 May 2025, our crew started laying the watermain from the top of La Veta Avenue down to the La Veta Avenue/Mt Royal Avenue intersection. These works are estimated to take three months to complete.
Please refer to the map below for the works area.

Stoddard Road and May Road works
Our works on Stoddard and May Road started in early May 2025. These works are progressing well, and our crew have finished laying the watermain on the corner of Stoddard Road and the first section of May Road just past the Cullen Avenue/May Road intersection.
We estimate we will finish laying the watermain up to the Richardson Road/Denny Avenue intersection by approximately early July 2025.
Update on left turn from Stoddard Road onto May Road
We would like to provide an update that a left turn is now available from Stoddard Road turning onto May Road. Parking in front of the shops is also available. Please note you will only be able to drive northbound to the carparks in front of shops, before having to turn around and exit May Road at the May Road/Stoddard Road intersection.
The traffic management setup will be attended by traffic controllers during our working hours.
On Monday 16 June 2025, we plan to open two-way traffic up to the Cullen Avenue/May Road intersection. Please note that the final road reinstatement is weather dependent.
Please refer to the map below showing the works area and the extent of our closure.
