Project overview

We are undertaking upgrades to the water network to cater for current and future development and population growth in the area. The project involves the construction of approximately 4,200 metres of new watermain. A new bulk supply point will also be constructed as part of the project. The project will enable growth and development in the area.

Current works

Works on Memorial Avenue, Mt Roskill

Since late July 2025, our team has been working on Memorial Avenue between May Road and Dominion Road. We have now completed laying the watermain.

Our crew are currently undertaking minor tie in works on the watermain, replacing a chamber lid, completing the permanent reinstatement/concreting and pressure testing on the watermain at various locations along Memorial Avenue.

We estimate that these works will be completed by late February 2026.

Update on works – La Veta Avenue, Mt Albert

In early September 2025, our team began installing seven valve chambers along La Veta Avenue, between the Richardson Road and Pickens Crescent intersection. These chambers play an important role in maintaining and managing the water network.

We have now completed construction of all chambers.

Our crew are currently undertaking minor tie in works within the chambers, adjusting valves, chamber testing the pipeline before the watermain goes live. These works are estimated to be completed by the end of February 2026.

Update on commissioning works on Richardson Road and O'Donnel Avenue, Wesley

With the watermain construction completed last year, the team is required to carry out minor tie in works and pressure testing the watermain. These works are taking place on Richardson Road and O’Donnell Avenue.

These works started in early February 2026 and will be completed by mid-February 2026.

Update on Denny Avenue commissioning works

Our crew will be undertaking tie in works adjacent to William Bloffield intersection, and testing the pipeline before the watermain goes live. Some final reinstatement works of the footpath will also be undertaken.

Following this there will be continued pressure testing works along Denny Avenue. This will be similar to the end of last year, where we isolate locations to test. There will be a variation of traffic management on site however, resident access will be maintained throughout the works.

These works are starting on 11 February 2026 and estimated to be completed by the end of February 2026.

Final connection and commissioning – coming in 2026

While the watermain installation will be completed this year, we’ll return in April–June 2026 to carry out final connection and commissioning works. These activities will require less traffic management than what’s currently in place.

A reminder that local businesses are still open

A reminder that local businesses in the area are still open. These local businesses would really appreciate your support while we carry out these important works. Rest assured, our crew is working as quickly as possible to finish these works and limit the disruption to the local businesses and the community.
