Fluoride dosing returning to Auckland’s water supply
15 April 2026Fluoride dosing at our plants was temporarily paused on March 30 while we changed stock of our fluoride product.
The pause followed advice from our supplier that a recent delivery of fluoride treatment product showed differences in chemical composition that, in its concentrated form, could increase the risk of corrosion in our storage facilities.
This was precautionary step, and at no time has there been any issue with the safety or quality of Auckland’s drinking water.
Fluoridation recommenced at our metropolitan water treatment plants from Monday 13 April.
Keeping Auckland’s water safe is our top priority, and that includes strict controls around how treatment chemicals are used.
We will advise Taumata Arowai and the Ministry of Health when fluoride dosing at our water treatment plants fully resumes.
