Chief executive Dave Chambers’ contract extended

Our chief executive Dave Chambers, who has been serving as interim chief executive since February 2023, will be staying on as chief executive under a flexible fixed-term contract through to June 2025.

Watercare board chair Margaret Devlin says: “I’m delighted that Dave has agreed to stay on. It gives Watercare welcome continuity as we navigate several upcoming changes, including the appointment of new board members and a new chair, and the ongoing conversations with central and local government around financial separation. Given the changes ahead of us, we have built in flexibility to Dave’s contract.”

Chambers – a former Watercare board member – was appointed interim chief executive when former chief executive Jon Lamonte resigned to take the role of chief executive of Entity A under the previous government’s Affordable Water Reform programme.
 
As water reform (now revoked) was due to be implemented with transition to the new entity on 1 July 2024, Chambers’ original contract saw him at the helm of Watercare until the new entity was stood up.
 
Chambers is thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to lead the organisation.
