Waiwera water and wastewater servicing project

We're upgrading the water and wastewater network to cater for growth.

Start-finish: Estimated 2025 - 2027
Location: Weranui Rd, Hibiscus Coast Highway and Twin Coast Discovery Highway
Status: Design

Project Overview

This project includes the construction of a new pump station at Waiwera Wastewater Treatment Plant and a new watermain that will be fed by the existing Waiwera water reservoirs.

The team will also be constructing rising and gravity mains to transport wastewater to the existing Hatfields Beach pump station. Ultimately, wastewater will be treated and discharged from the Army Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant. Once complete, this project will allow for additional capacity ensuring that the wastewater network is able to keep up with population growth.

Current traffic management

Between January – February 2024 we will be investigating several locations within the road corridor along Weranui Road, Hibiscus Coast Highway and Twin Coast Discovery Highway. Click here or see the proposed pipeline route on the map above. As part of these investigations, you will notice temporary traffic management in operation including shoulder and single lane closures. We ask that motorists and pedestrians please follow the directions of traffic management staff and signage.
