Engaging with our communities

Before we start work at any of our sites, we reach out to the people who live and work nearby. We want you to know what’s happening and provide a way to give us feedback. If you're part of that community, you’ll get a bulletin, newsletter, notice or letter, or even an invitation to a public event, depending on the information we’d like to share with you.

Behind the Big Blue Gate events popular with locals

Because our project is underground or behind tall fences, we like to open up a site on a Saturday morning from time to time. Over two hours locals can come in and tour the site, peering down the shaft (up to 37m) and talking to our engineers. We also have the kids’ activities, videos and our VR experience to enjoy. Comments such as ‘we now know why you’ve been here for two years’ are quite common when visitors see the full range and extent of the construction activities.

CI team joins local environmentalists for planting day

On a sunny if somewhat chilly June morning, members of the CI and GAJV crews enjoyed a day of planting in Norgrove Reserve. This area off Chamberlain Park, in Mt Albert, is one of the few remaining lava rock forests so close to built-up areas. Along with members of the Albert-Eden local board, St Lukes Environmental Protection Society and local residents, the team planted some 205 native seedlings.
